The World 9/11 Didn't Make

Paul Veneto, who walked the flight paths of the four planes hijacked on Sept. 11, 2001, to honor his fallen crewmates, now walks the flight path of United Flight 175 from Boston to Ground Zero one last time.

This week marks the 25th anniversary of the Sept 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the US. For many Americans, 9/11 is a distant memory, or not a memory at all-approximately 40% of the US population was either born after the attacks or is too young to remember them.

At sundown on Friday, Jewish families across America will welcome Rosh Hashanah as the nation marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. They will arrive carrying prayer books and thoughts of apples, honey, and the year ahead.

St. Paul's Chapel sits less than 100 yards from where the World Trade Center once stood, right at the edge of what became known as Ground Zero. More than two billion pounds of debris hit the ground on September 11, 2001, hard enough that seismographs 21 miles away picked up the shaking.
